Transformations to Symmetry and Homoscedasticity

چکیده
This paper considers transformations in regression to eliminate skewness and heteroscedasticity of the response. We work with the "transform-both-sides" model where the relationship between the 'lledian response and the independent varibles has been identified, at least tentatively. To preserve this relationship, the response and the regression model are transformed in the same way. Extending the work of others for the location parameter case, we propose an estimator AS that eliminates skewness. We also , , develop an estimator Ah to eliminate heteroscedasticity and an estimator Ahs that

Lie symmetry Analysis and Explicit Exact Dolutions of the Time Fractional Drinfeld-Sokolov-Wilson (DSW) System
In this study coupled system of nonlinear time fractional Drinfeld-Sokolov-Wilson equations, which describes the propagation of anomalous shallow water waves is investigated. The Lie symmetry analysis is performed on the model. Employing the suitable similarity transformations, the governing model is similarity reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations with Erdelyi-Kober ...
متن کاملDufour and Soret Effects on Unsteady Heat and Mass Transfer for Powell-Eyring Fluid Flow over an Expanding Permeable Sheet
In the present analysis, the Dufour and Soret effects on unsteady heat-mass transfer of a viscous incompressible Powell-Eyring fluids flow past an expanding/shrinking permeable sheet are reported. The fluid boundary layer develops over the variable sheet with suction/injection to the non-uniform free stream velocity. Under the symmetry group of transformations, the governing equations along wit...
متن کاملImproving your data transformations: Applying the Box-Cox transformation
Many of us in the social sciences deal with data that do not conform to assumptions of normality and/or homoscedasticity/homogeneity of variance. Some research has shown that parametric tests (e.g., multiple regression, ANOVA) can be robust to modest violations of these assumptions. Yet the reality is that almost all analyses (even nonparametric tests) benefit from improved the normality of var...
متن کاملRobust One-Way ANOVA under Possibly Non-Regular Conditions
Consider the one-way ANOVA problem of comparing the means m1; m2; . . . ; mc of c distributions F1 x F x ÿ m1; . . . ; Fc x F x ÿ mc. Solutions are available based on (i) normal-theory procedures, (ii) linear rank statistics and (iii) M-estimators. The above model presupposes that F1; F2; . . . ; Fc have equal variances ( homoscedasticity). However practising statisticans content that ...
متن کاملTests of homoscedasticity, normality, and missing completely at random for incomplete multivariate data.
Test of homogeneity of covariances (or homoscedasticity) among several groups has many applications in statistical analysis. In the context of incomplete data analysis, tests of homoscedasticity among groups of cases with identical missing data patterns have been proposed to test whether data are missing completely at random (MCAR). These tests of MCAR require large sample sizes n and/or large ...
